Consumers expect more from the online shopping experience
Online shoppers are becoming increasingly demanding.
That is according to recent research conducted by software provider Allurent, which examined online spending behaviour and attitudes towards internet retailers in 2007.
The third annual survey, entitled Holiday Shopping: Online Customer Experience Survey, found that 67 per cent of consumers had higher expectations of the online shopping experience than they did the year before.
A further 80 per cent of those questioned said a negative experience would discourage them from returning to a retailer´s site.
Several reasons were given for increasing expectations, with many consumers saying that they felt online shopping should be improving as technology gets better.
The survey also revealed a promising outlook for online spending this year, with 67 per cent of participants declaring their intention to increase their online shopping during the 2008 holiday season.
