Cookies ''not a great source of concern''
While Google´s use of cookies is a controversial issue, it does not represent a major threat to the online privacy of internet users.
That is according to Ben Camm-Jones, news editor for Web-User magazine, who asserted that "there are worse things on the web to worry about", such as the advertising system Phorm.
He maintained that, while Google now offered greater clarity to internet users over its cookie policy, systems such as Phorm are "much more of a concern".
Mr Camm-Jones commented: "I would probably be more concerned about advertising systems like Phorm, and the way that they´re going to be using surfer´s data. I think that´s much more of a concern than the way Google uses your data."
He went on to suggest that people needed to become more clued-up in their use of the internet, advising that they should learn about the technology they are using.
He said: "It probably is a good idea for all surfers to do their homework: you don´t want to be completely ignorant about the tools you´re using."
