Direct marketers optimistic for first quarter of 2008
Growth in revenue is anticipated by US direct marketers in the first quarter of this year, despite the slowdown in many areas of the economy.
That is according to the Direct Marketing Association´s (DMA) Quarterly Business Review (QBR) for the fourth quarter of 2007, which reveals the projections of the direct marketing community.
Data from the QBR Index showed that direct marketers saw considerable revenue growth between the final quarters of 2006 and 2007, while profitability results were also strong at the end of last year.
Direct marketers displayed reasonably optimistic expectations for the first quarter of 2008, projecting that they would experience a slight growth in revenue.
Anne B Frankel, senior research manager in research and market intelligence for the DMA, commented: "Direct marketers recognise that many areas of the economy are slowing.
"That concerns them. So, while for the most part all three segments experienced growth in quarter four and also forecast growth in quarter one, both their results and forecasts are more modest than in recent quarters."
