Direct marketing ''to boost pharmaceutical sales''
Direct marketing is predicted to provide a major boost to pharmaceutical companies this year, according to industry experts.
A new report from the Direct Marketing Association (DMA), entitled Direct Marketing Facts and Figures in the Pharmaceutical Industry, has estimated that there will be a 9.4 per cent compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in direct marketing-driven sales between 2007 and 2012.
It was forecast that a total of almost $1.9 billion (£957 million) will be amassed by online direct marketing-driven sales in 2008, while this figure will rise to around $3.8 billion (£1.9 billion) in 2012.
The report also predicted that over $1 billion (£503.5 million) will be spent by pharmaceutical direct marketers on the medium, while there would be a 21.9 per cent CAGR for commercial email spending between 2007 and 2012.
In addition, the DMA anticipated that $2 billion in sales would be generated by print marketing in 2008.
