Facebook Chat ''will be a welcome addition for most users''
Facebook´s recently introduced messenger service will enjoy popularity with internet users, but it is "not in any way revolutionary".
That is according to Rachel Hawkes, co-founder and editor at Social Media Portal, who said that she was "surprised" at the time it took for the website to offer this feature.
She noted that many users of the social networking site will embrace Facebook Chat, although she conceded that "it won´t appeal to everyone".
Ms Hawkes commented: "With the majority of Facebook users it will be a welcome addition as it allows them to have a more ´real time´ connection with their friends.
"However, it wont appeal to everyone - and Facebook have thought this through by adding the ability to sign out of chat."
According to Nielsen Online, Facebook´s UK user numbers increased by 781 per cent over the course of 2007, making it the second fastest growing website in Britain last year.
