Heinz Beanz no longer 'baked'

2008/07/15
Heinz is dropping the word "baked" from its cans of beans because it´s "a bit of a mouthful to pronounce".
The move is part of the company´s plan to update the brand and reposition the canned food as a healthy snack.

But the contents of the tin will remain exactly the same, as will the turquoise and black colour scheme.

John Alderman, marketing manager for Heinz said: "Heinz Beanz have been powering the nation for over a hundred years and to say thank you to our loyal fans, we have given this iconic product a 21st century makeover."

The new Heinz Beanz will have detailed nutritional information printed on the back highlighting the nutritional benefits of the beans.

Fans of the old baked beans tins - which haven’t changed in 76 years - could do worse than visit the Baked Bean Museum of Excellence in Port Talbot, Wales, which provides visitors with the "world´s only visual haricot heaven".
