Higher broadband costs ''may have to be accepted''

With people increasingly turning to the internet for their primary source of entertainment, consumers may have to accept paying more for their broadband connection.

That is according to Andrew Ferguson, editor of thinkbroadband.com, who said that the more demanding consumers would not be able to get what they wanted out of the internet by having "cheap as chips unlimited connection".

He went on to say that there should be more clarity among broadband providers regarding their tariffs and what sort of internet use they covered.

Mr Ferguson commented: "At the end of the day, we, the general public, may have to accept that if our broadband connections are becoming our main entertainment medium at home that we may need to pay more to use it this way.

"Some broadband providers need to come clean with their advertising about what they expect people to use their connection for."
