Russia tops internet growth
Russia recorded the highest rate of internet growth in September this year, according to new figures.
The number of unique visitors in the country rose by 23 per cent to hit 14.6 million, contributing to five per cent growth for Europe as a whole, with 226.7 million unique visitors.
Spain recorded the second highest growth, rising 18 per cent to 14.5 million, and Ireland was in third with 16 per cent growth to 1.5 million.
Germany was recorded as having the largest online audience, with 33.2 million unique visitors, just beating the UK with 32.2 million.
The two countries combined account for 29 per cent of the total online audience in Europe.
In the UK, internet users spent on average 33 hours online over the month and there were 3,252 pages viewed per visitor per month.
