Social media hits TV for fresh Tetley campaign

Social media hits TV for fresh Tetley campaign

It's not a surprise that Tetley is planning to make use of Facebook as part of a freshly unveiled marketing initiative.

According to The Drum, the famous name in tea will be using the site to push the message about the fresh way that it is positioning its brand.

However, what may be more unusual is the way in which Tetley is set to work social media into its TV campaign.

Taking to the airwaves from today, a TV commercial apparently focuses on a female social media user.

On the verge of posting a status update about a job-related success, she apparently thinks about how her post might be received by 'friends' on the site – before deciding to tell friends about things in person (alongside some Tetley tea, of course!).

"Our ad focuses on the peculiarity that in this modern age, some of the technology and social networks that can make us feel as though we are in constant contact with our friends, can actually reduce our face to face time with them," said Tata Global Beverages' Adrian Mooney. Tetley is owned by Tata.

The Tetley Tea Folk Facebook page has currently been 'liked' some 342,547 times.
