Mobile marketing in the UK is growing
2009/07/14
A recent study by the Internet Advertising Bureau and PricewaterhouseCoopers claimed that mobile marketing has grown by more than 99 per cent last year.
The organisations said that in 2008, mobile marketing was worth £28.6 million.
Moreover, the number of people using their mobile phones to access the internet has increased from 16.7 million in 2007 to 17.4 million last year, reports the Mobile Data Association.
However, Jonathan Bass, managing director of mobile marketing agency Incentivated, told m-travel.com: "There is a lack of understanding of the marketing bit of mobile marketing in the industry.
"There are a lot of small, tech companies who know a lot about the technology, but not why it would be deployed, or what constitutes a good result."
According to Ian Chard, an analyst at Juniper Research, the proliferation of mobile marketing is leading to an increase in the number of multi-media messages being sent by marketers.
