2009/11/19
Interflora, the flower retail company, has launched a Facebook page to gather email data as part of an online direct marketing campaign.
The Facebook page, which is part of the company´s customer engagement strategy, aims to provide a shared community for fans of Interflora to leave comments and post photos.
To boost Interflora´s online direct marketing database, the Facebook page will also encourage fans to sign up to email promotion offers.
Ricky Moxon, digital marketing manager at Interflora said, "Online social networking is rapidly growing and Facebook has become one of the fastest growing social networking sites We hope Interflora´s Facebook Page will help us reach out to new customers and improve the relationship Interflora has with existing customers."
According to a survey by eMarketer, Facebook is the preferred social network for marketers, followed by YouTube and MySpace, with more than half of US online retailers having a presence on Facebook.
This week, Facebook posted a pre-tax profit of £439,422 for its first 17 months of trading in the UK, according to Mediaweek.
