Online direct marketing to increase, says report
2009/12/15
Businesses are likely to increase their spend on online direct marketing tactics next year, according to a new study.
The research, which was carried out by personalised products company Vistaprint, shows that small businesses, with more time and money to focus on marketing, are deciding to focus their spend online.
Use of online direct marketing tools such as email marketing, as well as search marketing, look set to increase over the next year, the report said.
Speaking about the results, Trynka Shineman, chief marketing officer for Vistaprint, said: "Not only are online options like email marketing, local search and unique websites cost efficient, especially in a recession, but the internet is where potential small business customers are moving."
"This survey has confirmed that small businesses will start to try and incorporate online options as part of their overall marketing plan," he added.
The research also shows that use of social media sites like Twitter and Facebook will also increase over the next year.
Last week it was announced that Google would incorporate real-time updates from Twitter into its search results.
