Twitter and email 'top digital marketing tools'

Companies should put Twitter and email at the centre of their digital marketing campaigns, according to the latest research carried out by online marketing group StrongMail.
The company´s Social Influence Benchmark Report found that of all strategies, generates the highest direct marketing conversion rates, while Twitter is the most effective means of extending advertising reach.
Peer-to-peer emails were shown to generate a 36.8 per cent conversion rate, compared to just three per cent for Facebook.
Sharing information via Twitter was found to be the most effective way of advertising a companys campaign across the internet, generating more than 18 clicks per post.
Ryan Deutsch, vice president of strategic services and marketing development at the organisation, commented on the benefits of the social media platform.
He said: "If you sell online, you need to have a strategy that motivates your current customers to recruit new ones.
"It is critical that marketers understand how to identify influencers within their customer-base."
Earlier this week, Andrew Goodman, author of Winning Results with Google AdWords, stated that social networking sites such as Facebook provide companies with a source of highly-targeted customers.
