SEO 'effective' search marketing tool

Business-to-business products receive the greatest return on investment (ROI) from search engine optimisation (SEO), as opposed to other search marketing tactics, a report claims.
According to the study, which was carried out by Marketing Sherpa, 13 per cent of leads from SEO were classed as "high quality", proving that organic optimisation can deliver good ROI.

Sam Tilston, online marketing director at mail order company Zoombits.co.uk, said that many people using Google trust natural search listings more than their paid-for counterparts.

He added: "Search engine optimisers can further capitalise on this [their listing in Google] by optimising for long tail keywords, for example ´buy blue candle´ will yield a very targeted and high quality lead rather than optimising for just the term ´candle´."

Last September, Google was ranked as the world´s most powerful brand in 2009 in the Milward Brown Optimore Brandz Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands report.
