Marmite using Facebook ad units

2010/02/19
Marmite is allowing users to sample its savoury bar using Facebook ad units, it has been announced.
The company claims it is the first fast moving consumer goods brand which allows users to sample via ad units, Brand Republic reported.

Ad units, which were launched in June last year, allow Facebook users to RSVP to a request or become fans of a page within the ad unit itself.

Users will be given the opportunity to trial the new Marmite product and become a fan of the Marmite Cereal bars fan page.

Speaking to the news provider, Tom Denyard, marketing manager for Marmite, said: "Marmite already has a huge following on Facebook, and this new ad format provides us with another great way to really engage with and hear from all the Marmite lovers – and haters – out there about our exciting new range."

Stephen Haines, UK commercial director of Facebook, said: "We have already seen great success with sampling ads for big brands in the US, so we´re really pleased that UK brands now have the opportunity to engage with consumers in the same way."

According to Net Imperative, Fiat has also launched a sampling ad campaign of Facebook.
