Twitter announces @Anywhere platform
2010/03/16
Micro-blogging site Twitter has revealed plans for a new platform called @Anywhere.
Announcing the tool, Evan Williams, the chief executive officer of the social networking site, said @Anywhere will offer "a connection to users you didn´t have before, and it keeps them coming back", the Daily Telegraph reported.
If this is the case, the platform could help companies connect with more customers as they carry out online direct marketing and search marketing campaigns.
Mr Williams said the service will allow users to log into third-party websites using their Twitter account or to follow a particular Tweeter by clicking on their byline.
Twitter is partnering with several major websites for the launch of @Anywhere including Amazon, eBay, Digg, the New York Times and the Huffington Post.
Last week, a survey by Practical eCommerce reported that Twitter and Facebook have maintained their dominance of the English-speaking social media space.
According to the study, Twitter was used by 75.6 per cent of respondents and Facebook by 78 per cent.
