Search engine rankings revealed

2010/07/14
The importance of optimising content for search engines has been reinforced by comScore´s latest search engine rankings.
Based on US web users, but reflective of trends here in the UK, the analytics firm´s research reveals that Americans conducted 16.4 billion core searches in June, up three per cent on May.

Google remains the search engine of choice but its market share fell from 63.7 per cent the previous month to 62.6 per cent.

In second but gaining ground is Yahoo, which saw its share rise 0.6 per cent to 18.9 per cent, while Microsoft sites, including Bing, experienced the same increase, with its share up to 12.7 per cent.

Also on the list are Ask and AOL, who claimed 3.6 per cent and 2.3 per cent respectively.

Di Forster, director at SEO Junkies, recently said: "If you´re selling anything online, the Holy Grail is to be on page one of one of the main search engines."
