UK search marketing on the increase
2010/07/15
Search engine marketing increased by ten per cent in the UK over the past 12 months, a new report has revealed.
According to Efficient Frontier´s figures, advertising activity on search engines rose between the second quarter of 2009 and the same period in 2010 with consumers increasingly using this facility to source products and find out more about them.
Despite cost-per-click (CPC) rates still falling short of a year ago, the major search engine firms all saw an increase in the first two quarters of this year, the study showed.
And the firm anticipates further growth to year´s end, with search marketing spend expected to rise by up to 15 per cent, with a lower estimate of ten per cent.
"CPC rates saw a fairly dramatic drop last year, but the slight increase in the last three months indicates that the market is turning a corner.
Search is faring well," said Jonathan Beeston, client services director for Europe at Efficient Frontier.
Frank Reed, owner of FT Internet Marketing, recently commented that "search marketing delivers" and remains the most reliable form of advertising.
