Blogging increases the effectiveness of social media marketing

Blogging should play a role in any social media marketing campaign, an expert has advised.
Search engine optimisation (SEO) expert Kevin Gibbons said on Search Engine watch that blogging is one of the best ways to engage consumers on social media channels.

"It´s great for SEO because it encourages inbound links and also fills your pages with naturally keyword-rich content," he noted.

Mr Gibbons recommended Twitter as a good starting place for digital marketing campaigns as it is less time-consuming than most alternatives.

Firms can increase brand awareness by substantiating their presence on social networking sites with blog content, he added.

Marketers looking to initiate advertising campaigns should clearly draw up what they intend to achieve from them in order to maximise the potential of the channel, Mr Gibbons concluded.

Nick Baggot, founder of Navigate Consulting, recently advised that blogs are more "search friendly" than many other forms of online content.
