Mobile marketing set for 3G boost
2010/07/20
Mobile marketing could see its growth soar once 3G services are more widely available, according to Vdopia.
The video advertising network said the present 50 per cent growth rate could hit 150 per cent if operators and developers do their bit to keep prices down.
According to Ms Debadutta Upadhyaya, vice president of Vdopia, mobile phones represent a unique and lucrative source for marketers as people carry them around all the time and are increasingly using them for a variety of purposes.
Smartphones with internet access are becoming the norm and ad campaigns designed for mobile platforms are also growing in popularity.
Once video downloads and rich media formats are available to more people through the widespread uptake of 3G technology, brands can have more meaningful conversations with their consumers, Ms Upadhyaya said.
A recent report from ABI Research forecast expenditure on the mobile marketing platform will exceed $1.2 billion (£797 billion) by 2015.
