Online retailers turn to affiliate marketing
2010/07/27
Online retailers and merchants are adopting affiliate marketing in a bid to boost sales.
Although relatively new, the marketing method, also known as pay-per-click or online referral marketing, is increasingly being seen as a good way to build a brand´s web presence.
According to Rich Scotti, programme affiliate manager for 123Print.com, affiliate marketing has helped to increase its revenue significantly and now accounts for approximately 60 per cent of sales.
"Although affiliate marketing has been around quite a while as a direct sales channel, it´s still a wide-open frontier for new customer acquisition for online marketers," he stated.
"With so much competition and noise in other online advertising channels, it´s hard to ignore any space where you can put your name in front of people who could become your customers."
Liane Detrich, managing director of LinkShare UK, recently told Marketing Week that affiliate marketing will go "from strength to strength" in 2010.
