Email marketers looking to engage consumers and build brand loyalty have been offered some advice.
Writing for Real Business, industry expert Becs Rivett noted that email marketing "is a fantastic way to reach out to your customers and promote your products".

She advised practitioners to get to grips with the nuances of HTML emails and said testing was the key to avoiding mistakes.

Integration with social media is also a great way to improve the efficacy of marketing messages, Ms Rivett noted.

Ensuring that emails are personalised and properly targeted is also a must, while consistency in design and use of fonts is also advisable, she added.

"Designing a few basic layouts for your content is a great idea. It can help you to plan your content and customers will be familiar with how to find what they want within the email," Ms Rivett concluded.

ClickZ contributor Simms Jenkins recently said that email marketing messages should only contain the most essential information about a brand or business, noting that people tend not to spend too long reading them.
