A Time for Festive Giving

Written by Donna | 21-Dec-2012 15:23:00

Christmas is traditionally the season of giving when we remember those who are less fortunate than ourselves and try to do something selfless that will make a difference to others.

In business, this should be no different. Many companies now have strategies in place to support charities that are local to them or special to their employees. If you don’t, maybe this Christmas is the time to think about it and give a little back to your community.

There are many methods of doing this and could involve any or all of the following:

• Supporting or sponsoring a local charity
• Donating to local gift appeals
• Or even allowing employees time off work to help out with a local homeless programme

Depending on your line of work you may even be able to donate products you produce or services you offer.

This year, Pinterest have set a great example and invited people to take part in Pinspiration. For 30 days pinners, non-profits and brands share their inspiration with other pinners at http://holidays.pinterest.com/. The thoughtful boards covering a multitude of subjects offer insight into what makes them feel festive and how it can be re-created.

Social responsibility is not something to be taken lightly but will often evolve into a long term relationship which can be mutually beneficial. Just make sure you are participating for the right reasons rather than to take unfounded credit. There are many cynics out there and if your intentions are thought to be insincere you may face repercussions. However, if you genuinely enter into the spirit of Christmas and support your community, you are certain to see your brand loyalty soar.

We hope that you have enjoyed our 12 Days of Christmas and if you would like any more information about any of the topics covered, please do get in touch!

From everyone at equimedia, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. Here’s to an exciting 2013!
