Justin Tomlinson MP, who is Swindon North’s new Conservative MP visited our Swindon offices last Friday as part of the new business buddy initiative designed to give SME’s a voice on key issues. The national scheme aims to foster a greater understanding of small businesses among politicians, getting the two round the table to discuss successes and issues within the local economy and amongst local businesses. It gives businesses a chance to flag up barriers they are encountering and MPs the chance to hear first hand the issues pertinent to their local economies. Mr Tomlinson enjoyed the tour of our offices, met the staff and learnt a little of the work we do for our clients.
Mr Tomlinson MP ran his own marketing business before being elected as our local MP in the last election, which gives him a deep understanding of the unique challenges of running an independent Agency. He was interested to hear of the challenges the new e-Privacy directive presents for our clients and the work we are doing to help them comply with the legislation in time for the May deadline. He was also keen to understand the advantages of having our HQ in Swindon and the opportunities we can offer local people to join the digital marketing industry.
The scheme seems to be an effective way to give businesses of all sizes the opportunity to talk to their MP about key issues that face their industry as well as the challenges all SME’s faces as employers, and it was reassuring to find that our local MP is deeply interested in local issues and keen to help and support employers in his constituency.
