Last Friday the equimedia team woke up with one thing on their minds – the annual Summer Party. This year, we threw it back to our childhood with a school inspired sports day, all in order to raise money for our chosen charity – Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
We’re quite a competitive bunch, so the days running up to the event were filled with team tactics and trash talk. After a tense coach ride, we hit the event field on Friday morning, ready to win! And despite the recent typically British downpours, we were gifted with sunny skies and heat.
Purton House, our venue for the day.
The day took place at the very picturesque Purton house. The four teams; Red, Yellow, Orange and Pink were gifted with coloured bandanas that were to be worn throughout the day.
Activities included a sack race, pantomime horse race, human table football, chicken sumo wrestling (yes, you read that right!), and for the grand finale, a tug of war.
Darren and Ross going head to head to take the sack race lead.
Ffion with a skilled and speedy egg and spoon race run.
Paul and Clive in a Chicken battle to the bitter end.
The tug of war finale.
After the games ended, and we burned through our energy, the day was wrapped up with a BBQ and some drinks. The scores were announced, and the formidable, if slightly hated Orange team took first place with a strong 10-point lead. This was followed by the pink team in 2nd place, the yellow team in 3rd, and the red team finishing last, but with incredible spirit.
As well as eternal bragging rights for the winners, we also managed to raise a fantastic £233.75 for our chosen charity, The Wiltshire Air Ambulance. Each year equimedia vote inhouse for a charity to support, and the fantastic local work that the Wiltshire Air Ambulance do had our vote, and our support.
With the fun and games all over, and the fundraising efforts tallied up, the equimedia team will be back in September for National Air Ambulance Week.
