Well... we've only gone and done it! We have absolutely SMASHED our fundraising target before we've even set foot on the Ridgeway (well other than training).
A huge thank you to all that have sponsored us for our epic trekking challenge, which we will undertake THIS SATURDAY, 14th May!
Currently, our total stands at £3,859.81... 107% target and the sponsorsip is still rolling in! We've had such massive support from all of our friends, family and superstar colleagues, who we really have rinsed for every penny they could spare. Equi=Media have also agreed to match our fundraising efforts pound for pound, so we will have a very generous donation for the wonderful people at SENSE when we hand over our sponsorship after the event.
There is a video here, demonstrating the excellent work that SENSE do for people with deafblindness every single day – it is this that gets us even more revved up for the challenge we all face this weekend, as every step will be worth it.
We have purchased a plethora of first aid items, as per our very thorough kit list, and we all have our waterproofs at the ready, just in case we aren't as lucky as we'd like to be with the weather come Saturday.
Blister prevention remedies and favourite snacks and headtorches at the ready... we're all set and can't wait! Wish us luck!
In a last ditch training effort, Tom and Paul trekked all over the Ridgeway on Sunday for 31.25 painstaking, blister-popping miles, from West Overton out to Liddington Castle, St Ogbourne and back to West Overton – epic! I believe they were still back in time to see Chelsea concede the title race to Man Utd too, although I bet Paul wishes he hadn't rushed back now! :)
Final update to follow with pictures of all the team before and after the event!
Thanks again from all of the Equi=Media Trekkers, and there's still time to sponsor us – our page will be live until the 15th August accepting donations – www.justgiving.com/equimedia.
