Launched in May last year exclusively in the US and Canada, the expansion into more countries is great news as an additional 1 million merchants will have the ability to showcase their products directly from their eCommerce store, creating shoppable experiences into shoppable pins.
Pinterest said “The Shopify Pinterest channel is now live in a range of new countries including Australia, Austria, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and the UK.
Now more than 1.7 million Shopify merchants around the world have an easy way to bring their products to Pinterest and turn them into shoppable Product Pins that are discoverable across the platform.”

The Pinterest integration with Shopify will make it a lot easier for merchants using Shopify to connect their products by uploading their product catalogue and converting the products into shoppable pins. Users will then be able to buy featured products from a merchant’s pin without leaving Pinterest at all.
But that is not all!
Shopify merchants that are advertising on Pinterest using their Shopify feed will now get access to Dynamic Retargeting for the first time! This feature enables merchants to re-engage with Pinners that have previously expressed an interest in their products by retargeting users with either exact or similar product types.
To be able to make use of this feature, merchants will need to meet a minimum number of AddToCard and PageVisit events in the last 7 days, which will be tracked using the Pinterest Tag that each merchant will need to install on their website. (This is similar to a Facebook Pixel).
And there is more?!
Pinterest is also launching multi-feed support for product catalogues. This is a new feature that allows businesses to easily upload their products into multiple product feeds within the same Pinterest Business account.
Previously limited to just one product feed, all Shopify merchants can add anywhere up to 20 product feeds to their account.
These are exciting updates, and we look forward to further developments as Pinterest continues to expand its eCommerce offering. We are excited to give it a try!
